Meet Your DBC East Comedians!
J.B. Ball is the “good guy” who can’t help but speak up, even when he shouldn’t. He was raised on fairytales and there’s no convincing him he’s not a Prince Charming in his own way. His wit and charm are the perfect buffer to bring people together on matters of race, homophobia, sexism, classism, and outright stupidity. His talents have landed him appearances on Comedy Central’s “Kevin Hart’s Hart of The City”, Kevin Hart’s new “LOL” streaming comedy network, MTV, and CBS. He was selected for the prestigious “New Faces” at the 2016 Montreal Just For Laugh Festival and was previously named “Florida’s Funniest Comedian.” His debut comedy album “Wait, What?” is now available on iTunes.
Raised in San Jose, California Eric Toms began his career when his sketch comedy troupe pitched and sold their late night sketch show to a local TV channel. Eric immediately dropped out of college and threw himself into the experience, taking on the role of head writer, performer, and video producer. Making the leap to stand-up comedy Eric traveled the world and by 25 had already worked with some of his comedy heroes, such as Kevin Pollak, Norm Macdonald, Lewis Black, Tracy Morgan and Bobby Slayton. Since then Eric’s writing has won recognition with The Academy of Arts and Sciences and The Austin Screenwriting Festival, and has written commercial campaigns for brands such as 7-11, Netflix, and Cholula Hot Sauce. Eric returns for his 3rd Dirtybird Campout, this time as the Host of Comedy Night at The Bunkhouse, Florida edition!
Casey has been seen on Lifetime, NuVo TVs Stand Up and Deliver, Arise 360 news, TIDA, No Small Talk Series, and appeared on Gotham Comedy Live twice. She was selected to perform at Festivals in North Carolina, Austin, Atlanta, New York Comedy, Maine and was a finalist at The Big Sky Comedy Festival in Montana. She also hosted the AVN affiliated Go Fuck Yourself awards in Las Vegas, which she invited her dad to which was a hilarious experience.
Matt Fernandez’s approach to comedy comes off as detached and nonchalant. Originally from Tampa, Matt has performed with some of the biggest names in comedy (Aziz Ansari, Jim Jefferies, Bill Burr, and Dave Chappelle to name a few). Matt has written articles for College Humor and Playboy. He’s also a 2nd City alum, and has been featured on Sirius XM Radio and Rooftopcomedy.com. He’s a regular guest on Doug Loves Movies. Along with being named best comedian in Tampa Bay by Creaitve Loafing in 2017, he was also named one of the 15 funniest comedians you should be following on twitter by funnyordie.com. He has also had tweets featured on Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Today Show. Add to that performances at the Funny or Die Oddball Comedy Festival, the Boston Comedy Festival, and Laugh Your Asheville Off. It all adds up to a fascinating brand of irreverent comedy. Matt Fernandez is making his Dirtybird Campout debut this February in St. Cloud, Fl.
With a style best described as, “observation with an edge” comedian Robby Slowik is quickly establishing himself as someone to watch. Establishing himself as anything else would be a complete waste of time.
After starting comedy in Tampa, FL Robby moved to Los Angeles where he became a regular performer at clubs, bars, and venues throughout Southern California. He has appeared in numerous festivals around the country and was a finalist in the 2014 and 2015 Laughing Skull Comedy Festival. He was also handpicked to participate in the prestigious Great American Comedy Festival. He has performed across the country and internationally and he can be seen and heard on Hulu, Seeso, Spotify, Pandora, and Sirius/XM. Robby is currently a writer on Jon Stewart’s new HBO project and he has also written for MTV, SpikeTV, and a few major national ad campaigns. Robby now resides in New York City where he can be seen nightly getting up in clubs, alt rooms, and bars. He can also be seen eating 99¢ pizza more often than is probably ok.
Named “Florida’s Funniest Person” in 2009 and “Best Speller” in kindergarten, Paul Soleo is clearly an acheiver. Paul studied improv and sketch comedy while obtaining his degree from the University of Florida, and is a veteran stand-up comic and mobile DJ. Paul was selected to the 2012 North Carolina Comedy Arts festival, where he was chosen to perform in a talent showcase for the “Late Show” with David Letterman. He has also appeared at the 2012 Boston Comedy Arts Festival, and the 2009 Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival. Paul will open The Dirtybird Campout Comedy Night at the Bunkhouse on Saturday at 8:00pm!
